Meet NewVIc student and Nrich Officer Naomi. Naomi is a former Eastlea Community School student and is currently in her second year studying Level 3 Applied Science. We caught up with Naomi to find out a little more.

Why did you choose to go for your Student Union role?

I chose this SU role because I love playing sports and being active. With me in this role, I hope to learn from my peers about what activities they want improved at NewVIc and how to ensure more students are participating. I am also excited to be able to help to recruit students for the different clubs, trips and activities currently available.

What do you enjoy about being a student at NewVIc?

What I like about being a student at NewVIc is that there are so many opportunities and  activities available for all students. I have learnt how to be more independent and respectful to staff and other students. I also enjoy meeting and communicating with different people from all corners of the world.

What would you like to improve with your role?

With my role, I would like to improve the participation of students in the clubs and societies during their lunch times or after college. I am passionate about social media and I think it plays a big part in the marketing of the different activities that are available to students. I would like to increase the social media content about extra-curricular activities and include student blogs, vlogs, and interactive activities.

What is your favourite food?

I like food from all over the world, including African, continental and Turkish.

What would be your superpower and why?

My superpower would be empathy. It is impossible to understand everyone and I would really like to understand how it is like to be in someone else’s position and support them if needed.
