Meet NewVIc student and Student Voice Officer Riyad. Riyad is a former Lister Community School student and is currently in his second year studying A Levels in English Literature, Government and Politics and Economics. We caught up with Riyad to find out a little more.

Why did you choose to go for your Student Union role?

I wanted to become the Student Voice Officer so I can help make changes in this college and improve the current issues that students are facing in and outside of college; most importantly to get their voices heard.

What do you enjoy about being a student at NewVIc?

I like the freedom we have as students at NewVIc. I also love the atmosphere and facilities of the college.

What would you like to improve with your role?

With my role, I would like to improve the support for students. I would also like to work on student voice campaigns and help my peers voices be heard.

What is your favourite food?

My favourite food is sushi. You should try some if you haven’t tried before!

What would be your superpower and why?

My superpower would be to control time. Time is very important and an essential part of our lives. We either have too much time or not enough time when doing things so this would be cool to control.
