This accessibility statement applies to www.newvic.ac.uk.
This website is run by Newham Sixth Form College. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website might not be fully accessible:
• videos are hosted externally on YouTube
• the map on the contact page is hosted externally by Google Maps
• we use a widget on some of the University Centre’s course pages which is hosted externally (it is possible to click the link in the widget to navigate to the external site to retrieve the information there)
• some older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
• it may be difficult to navigate some of our online forms using just a keyboard

Policy statement
Newham Sixth Form College is committed to making all its web-based information and services as accessible as possible to all people, including those with disabilities and regardless of their access requirements. The College recognises that the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) WAI’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 are the standard against which accessibility can be assessed and requires that:
All new web content and services created in-house conform to Level A and much of Level AA, wherever possible, of the W3C guidelines;
Web content and services provided by external developers conform to at least Level AA of the W3C guidelines;
Existing web content and services be gradually brought into line, as they are periodically updated.
The College will continuously review this policy in the light of any future changes to the W3C’s accessibility guidelines.

UK legislation
An EU directive on the accessibility of websites and web applications of public sector bodies came into force in September 2018. This was passed into UK law entitled as the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. This law reinforces the need to follow the standards above and in particular those defined in WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
