Wellbeing

we’ve got your back.

We have a college counsellor for students who have worries or feelings that they find hard to cope with or just want to understand better. Our experienced and qualified counsellor will provide a safe and confidential space and will listen to you, judgement free.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students. All students should be kept safe from harm, including any form of abuse, sexual exploitation or radicalisation.

We protect our students from extremists who advocate violence, religious hatred or racist, sexist or homophobic views. Our safeguarding and welfare advisers also help with personal issues such as homelessness or health. If there is something an adviser cannot help you with, they will refer you to an external agency to get the right support you need.

LGBTQ+

We work hard to make sure that LGBTQ+ people feel safe, welcomed and supported by providing a safe space for students to study and work.

We promote LGBTQ+ awareness through a wide range of events and have a weekly support group for students to learn more about their own gender or sexuality and deepen their understanding of LGBTQ+ identity and issues.

Mental health & wellbeing charter

The College is actively signed up to the Association of Colleges Mental Health and Wellbeing Charter as we recognise our responsibility to create an environment that promotes student and staff wellbeing and positive mental health. The Charter includes commitments to:

  • Promoting equality of opportunity and challenging mental health stigma

  • Providing appropriate mental health training for staff

  • Providing targeted individual mental health support where appropriate

LGBTQ Rights & Religion

“Although there are laws in place that recognise LGBT and allow same sex-marriage (at least for the UK), people can feel excluded from their own community and face the dilemma of embracing their own sexuality or rejecting it for their faith. But there’s also another choice: you keep both of them because they are both part of you and equally important.”
