At the end of last month, the Student Union and Student Development Team hosted a special diversity and inclusion event to celebrate NewVIc students and staff who come from all over the world.
The event celebrated the rich culture, food, music and the contributions of people from diverse backgrounds from Newham and beyond. Students and staff were encouraged to wear traditional clothing to represent their heritage for the day and were treated to live cultural music, henna art, face painting, dance and an open mic.
The event was also a chance for students and staff to share their experiences and knowledge celebrating multiculturalism and inclusion at the college.
NewVIc alumna and Student Development Officer, Loren Fraser, who helped lead the event said:
“We organised Fusion Fest to highlight and celebrate the diversity throughout the college. We are fortunate enough to have students and staff from all over the world, each of them unique in their own ways. Fusion Fest helped staff and students foster a sense of community and connection. We were able to promote inclusivity and diversity throughout the college which helped to build stronger relationships.”
