Hundreds of new and returning students kicked off their academic year at NewVIc by taking part in Freshers. Alongside fun activities, students had a chance to learn about the range of opportunities and support they can access outside of their lessons to enhance their personal development, explore new interests and develop the soft skills needed for employment and everyday life. Students also had a chance to learn about the Student Union and as well as the societies, clubs and sports enrichment activities on offer.
Naomi Mullings, Student Development Manager said:
“I want to say a huge thank you to all our partners for joining Freshers and for the support that they provide throughout the year. This year we were delighted to welcome long standing partners, such as Friends of the Earth and Newham Citizens and launch new partnerships including East London Theatre School and Ambition, Aspire, Achieve. These partnerships play a vital role in helping our students to develop their soft skills and support personal growth, which is key to academic success and personal wellbeing.”
Liam Hartley-Davies, SEND Coordinator at Ambition, Aspire, Achieve, said:
"Ambition Aspire Achieve are delighted to be working in partnership with NewVIc to introduce our SEND youth club programme into the college for its students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Our SEND Youth club creates a safe, welcoming and inclusive space for young people, where they can become more independent, build lasting friendships, develop communication, teamwork and vital life skills all while having fun!"
