Iseoluwa, a NewVIc Level 3 IT student completed a week’s work experience placement at BT’s London offices. She secured the placement after beating tough competition to win the BT X Black Apprentice Network Dragons Den competition which ran over the summer.

Iseoluwa, a NewVIc Level 3 IT student, has a spring in her step having completed a week’s work experience placement at BT’s London offices. She secured the placement after beating tough competition to win the BT X Black Apprentice Network Dragons Den competition which ran over the summer.

As part of the competition, Iseoluwa was partnered with another entrant and tasked with coming up with an idea on how technology could improve their local community. She successfully pitched her ideas to a panel which included senior leaders from BT and an NHS Director. Iseoluwa and her teammate pitched ideas to change an NHS app to improve its service, save NHS resources and get help to those that need it most.

Iseoluwa said:

“I really enjoyed taking part in the competition and working with my teammate to review the NHS app and come up with ways to increase the number of young people and older people using it.

The work experience enabled me to shadow BT staff, understand how to build a personal brand and craft an effective pitch. It also gave me a really good insight into the range of roles on offer in the industry. It’s made me determined to secure an apprenticeship with BT in either IT or Cybersecurity when I leave college!”
