A LEVEL TEACHERS OF PHYSICS
On work-life:
“NewVIc is a vibrant, inclusive college where students from all backgrounds bring fresh ideas and a real passion for learning. As A Level teachers of Physics from diverse backgrounds ourselves, we understand the power of representation and the importance of creating an environment where every student feels empowered to succeed.
Our students constantly impress us with their curiosity and problem-solving skills, and we’re proud to challenge and inspire them every day. Collaboration is key—we work with amazing colleagues, share innovative teaching methods, and stay ahead of the latest developments in education. At NewVIc, inclusivity isn’t just a goal; it’s a mindset that drives us to help every student unlock their full potential.”

On most inspiring person you both have met:
“One of the most inspiring groups of people we’ve met are the experts from the Cambridge Physics Department. Their passion for advancing Physics education has been truly motivating. They have provided us with invaluable resources, training opportunities, and innovative teaching ideas that we use daily in our lessons. Platforms like Isaac Physics have transformed the way we challenge and engage our students, helping them develop problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of the subject. Their support has not only enhanced our teaching but also inspired our students to see the exciting possibilities in STEM.”
On your teaching careers:
Aurelia: “Passionate about Physics and Engineering I earned a Degree in Theoretical Physics. I am in my third year of teaching Physics here at NewVIc. I understand the importance of following your dreams and the power and freedom that come with pursuing your passions.
Zainab: “I have been teaching Physics and Maths for over 15 years and hold a Master’s degree in Space Science. Physics is my passion, and I am always eager to spark that same enthusiasm in my students. This is my first year teaching at NewVIc, and I am thoroughly enjoying seeing students’ eagerness to learn and explore Physics.”
On student progression:
“At NewVIc, we have seen a steady year-on-year increase in the number of students progressing to Russell Group universities. We are an Isaac Physics department, so we place a strong emphasis on developing problem-solving skills. Our students engage with challenging concepts, tackling higher-order problems that build their analytical thinking and resilience. Many of them actively participate in the Physics Olympiad, pushing themselves to compete at a national level. It has been incredible to witness their hard work pay off, with achievements such as a Bronze medal in Astrophysics in the previous academic year and a Silver medal this year. These milestones reflect not only their dedication but also the supportive environment that encourages them to push their limits and thrive.
One of the most exciting projects we’re currently working on with our A Level students is Planet Hunting With Python, a collaboration with Queen Mary University London. Our students are diving into real NASA Kepler mission data, using Python to analyze light curves, simulate planetary transits, and uncover potential exoplanets. It’s incredible to see their curiosity come to life as they apply coding and data analysis to real-world astrophysics. At NewVIc, we are always exploring new opportunities to engage students with cutting-edge developments in Physics, helping them connect classroom learning to the frontiers of scientific discovery.”
