What made you choose NewVIc?
I chose NewVIc because it is a very diverse sixth form that supports students in many ways. Funnily enough, I never actually applied to NewVIc. On the day of enrolment, my dad insisted that we visit and get a feel, so I gave it a chance.
After enrolling, I ended up loving NewVIc. The teachers were incredibly sweet and genuinely cared for the students. From that day until now, I’ve received so much support and I’m really glad I made the decision to stay here for my studies.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO STUDY A LEVELS?
I study A Levels in Business and Economics and I’m also studying a Level 3 Diploma in Financial Services. I chose these subjects because I my goal is to get into investment banking.
How have you found SIXTH FORM so far?
NewVIc has offered me many opportunities to network and grow in for my future career. They provide a lot of workshops and networking events that have helped me connect with professionals. Plus, they offer a wide range of extracurricular activities which have allowed me to build my CV and gain valuable skills beyond the classroom.
My time at NewVIc has been amazing. I’ve had so many chances to grow, network, and prepare for my future career. On top of that, I’ve made amazing friends. Everyone here is so supportive, which has made my experience even better.
Is there anything you wish you had known that you do now?
Never underestimate a place until you experience it yourself.
Who is the most inspiring person you have ever met?
My parents are the most inspiring people to me. I’ve seen them go through so many struggles, yet they always face them with a smile and never let us suffer. They worked hard to learn the language and overcome barriers so that we wouldn’t have to struggle the same way.
They have always supported my decisions and never forced me into anything. Both of them are highly educated and financially independent, and my dad, who has multiple master’s degrees, inspires me with how he has always chosen a career path that he truly enjoys.
Tell us about being the Student Union President and a part of Student Council?
I am the Student Union President and I am very proud that I can voice student concerns and issues. I love to help others and why not as president to my peers? I believe in making change for young people and I am grateful that the student community voted for me and believe in my abilities. This opportunity will enable me to gain new skills that will help me in the future.
What is your advice for students considering NewVIc?
The only advice I would give to anyone coming to NewVIc is to take full advantage of all the support on offer. There are so many opportunities, so make sure to use them.
Also, don’t be afraid to make as many friends as you want! Along with your studies, remember to have fun and enjoy the experience.
So what’s next?
After NewVIc, I plan to get a degree in Economics and Finance. My dream is to work in the investment banking sector.
