Meet NewVIc student and Student Union Lead Councillor Jhundon. Jhundon is a former Brampton Manor Academy student and is currently in his second year studying A Levels in Maths, Physics and Computer Science. We caught up with Jhundon to find out a little more.

Why did you choose to go for your Student Union role?

I aspire to help other students become confident in what they do and be successful. My role helps me connect with other students and gather ideas and express those ideas to the Student Union. I take joy in helping others when they need it and make myself available for when they need help with something around the college.

What do you enjoy about being a student at NewVIc?

As a NewVIc student, I enjoyed the opportunities that are widely available to me. From the Honours Programme to becoming an SU executive, to participating in events and club activities that I wouldn’t expect to see in other colleges. All of these wouldn’t have been possible if I didn’t choose to come to NewVIc and be a student here. All the people who I met throughout my time at NewVIc so far are all amazing and have all inspired me to enjoy what I do.

What would you like to improve with your role?

With my role, I want to be able to allow students to voice their opinions without the fear of being judged. I want to help Student Councillors to feel more positive in what they are saying during the Student Council Summits. This will allow them to be more involved in the process of improving the college.

What is your favourite food?

My favourite food would have to be ‘Champorado’. It is a fillipino chocolate rice porridge typically eaten during breakfast but I enjoy eating it anytime of the day!

What would be your superpower and why?

My superpower would be to travel through time. I would want to be able to see the events in person that helped influence the advancement of technology throughout time and see how they have evolved in comparison to what we use today.
