Going to Kings College University to study Computer Science
Tell us about yourself?
My grades will help me to stand out hopefully and I did try to develop some new skills during lockdown. I got into drawing again, which is something I used to enjoy previously and I even got pro-markers to do some colouring, which a lot of people have told me they liked about my images. I used to make video game covers when I was younger so this is something I've picked up again during lockdown and am enjoying it.
What do you hope to do next?
I hope to work in IT, ideally work in new things like VR. I'll be going to Kings College London university to study for a degree in Computer Science, which was my first choice of university. I am planning to get into employment first, then possibly complete a Master’s degree later on. I have always been into playing games from a young age, I owned many consoles such as the Game Boy and PS1 and this inspired me to pursue these subjects and career into computer science.
How will your qualification/course help you in the future?
Well for starters, I have achieved my grades, which will help me with my future ambitions. Maths and Further Maths are basics for computer science studies so will help me towards my degree.
What will you miss about NewVIc and your college experience in general?
I'll miss the free periods when I hung out with my friends, in the student lounge, or on the student bridge. It was a relaxing place, I didn't feel pressured and my teachers had faith in me to do well. They were really nice and friendly and I could go to them for help, especially with my Further Maths teachers where they'd go over topics and I can then go home to get a deeper understanding of the topic. Further Maths was more of an independent study subject, but my teachers were always there when I needed help.
