Tell us about yourself?
I didn't have my GCSE English when I joined and was enrolled because I had a good reference. I felt I was underestimated, but in the end I did get my GCSE English and achieved the highest result! I've also realised that asking for help is good, as at the beginning I did not approach my teachers when the work load was too much, but when I finally did, they supported me and this helped a lot. This is the advice I would give to others; ask for help when you need it.
What do you hope to do next?
I plan to go back to work on a full-time basis at the Atherton Leisure Centre in Stratford. I also would like to complete a swimming teacher's and personal trainer courses as that is what I'd like to do in the future. I am already a qualified lifeguard and fitness instructor.
How will your qualifications/course help you in the future?
My courses will help me as I already have an insight and will know what things can come up on my new courses. I've studied anatomy, physiology, and nutrition, which can help with my personal training course. I feel I will have a greater advantage due to my previous course knowledge.
What will you miss about NewVIc and your college experience in general?
The college has a really good atmosphere. I'll particularly miss my teachers, who made the course fun and enjoyable, as we were able to learn and have fun at the same time. I was also able to meet new people so it was more diverse. I also learned alongside travel and tourism students so it was good to mix with others.
