Second team footballers take an important win
NewVIc 2nd XI 4 - 2 Epping Forest College 3rd XI
NewVIc started the game defending deep in their own half as top of the league Epping Forest piled on the pressure straight from kick-off. Epping attacked the line creating chance after chance which gave NewVIc coaching & management cause for concern! 15 minutes in the NewVIc coaching team made swift changes to the starting line-up a triple substitution was implemented.
The decision seemed to play off and 20 minutes in, NewVIc took the surprise lead with a complete howler from the Epping goalkeeper when Adem’s timid shot seemed to roll under the keeper’s body.

The 1-0 lead flooded NewVIc squad with extra confidence and on the counter-attack Suleiman picked up the ball 25 yards out and hit an unstoppable drive past the helpless Epping College keeper, giving the NewVIc squad a comfortable 2-0 advantage.

5 minutes before halftime NewVIc were dreaming of their first win of the season when another counter-attack resulted in a crossed shot across the box fumbled by the keeper and tapped in by Gomes!

Straight after the break, Epping pushed forward looking for their all-important 1st goal but all their hopes and dreams of a comeback were smashed when Suleiman, who received the ball from a flick on the edge of the area, beat 2 defenders with ease and calm as you like slotted the ball home.
NewVIc 4 -0 Epping Forest
10 minutes left of the game Epping were given a lifeline when the ref award Epping two suspect penalties in the space of 5 minutes; one from a rash challenge inside the area and another from a handball. Both penalties were slotted home but they just weren’t enough!
