Level 2 Air Cabin Crew students received a welcome pre-Easter visit from Alex, Cabin Manager from easyJet and Deanna, Cabin Crew from Virgin Atlantic.

Students had the opportunity to role play pre-flight and post-flight briefing with them using real-life scenarios. Additionally, they interviewed students for the role of cabin crew as part of their assessment and provided them with feedback on their progress.

Michael Owusu-Dartey, Teacher of Business, Travel and Tourism said,

“Overall, it was a hands-on experience for the students as they learnt a range of practical and employability skills from Alex and Deanna.”

NewVIc Level 2 Travel and Tourism students also had this to say;

On that day I had a great experience with Deanna and Alex. Which was fun and enjoyable. I had the great opportunity to participate in a pre and post flight briefing. We went through the tasks that needed to be completed before take-off, such as: checking the aircraft for any issues, reviewing the flight plan, checking weather conditions and checking any passengers with special requirements. This briefing was crucial in ensuring that all precautions are taken before the flight.

During post flight briefing, we discussed any incidents that have occurred, passenger feedback and experiences, as well as reflecting on different ways to improve future flights. My one to one interview was a great experience and it gave me confidence about the aviation industry and an understanding of how to prioritise the safety of passengers and cabin crew. And, it will help me to become a cabin crew in future and achieve my goal.

I found the day on Wednesday very fun. I enjoyed my day very much. I learnt a lot and created an even stronger bond with my friends and with Alex and Deanna. One thing that I learnt about on that day was about the pre-flight briefing. So for example we got split up into groups of five and then each group took their turn to fill out the pre-flight briefing sheet. In the group I was in I had Deanna. She first told us about the day, the flight number and the aircraft type and what time it arrived at the airport and then we explored a situation that had happened on board. After writing all the information down that Deanna had given us we all took turns to read out what we had written down and understood. After we did the post-flight briefing which was an incident report.

We completed a group activity - each group had 15 minutes to find a solution to 3 different scenarios and one of the skills that we had to learn. The skill I had to learn was being able to work together as a group. I found that day very useful and I was very grateful to be able to learn how to work as a group which also will help me in my future career.

Lastly, both Alex and Deanna interviewed 2 students at a time and asked each of us questions that we had practiced. I thought I did very well in my interview and received positive feedback from Alex.
