NewVIc celebrates students' outstanding academic and personal achievements at Annual Awards evening

At the Annual Awards evening on Tuesday 17 December 2019, more than 40 NewVIc students received awards for their achievements in the past year.

Awards were given for academic success to students with the highest grades in A Levels and vocational diplomas. Students who had made great progress during the year, showing determination and overcoming obstacles were honoured. Award winners included also those who had made outstanding contributions to the college and the local community, through supporting their peers, volunteering and training as leaders. The evening was rounded off with celebratory performances from students from performing arts.

Noah Anthony Enahoro received an award during the evening. His award recognised his academic success in studying History and his work on the Classics Programme, and Memory and History Project in partnership with King’s College. He was also nominated for being an avid member of the student council and a keen student volunteer at college open days and events. Noah is a second-year A Level and Honours student studying A Level History, Government and Politics and Law and has been offered a place to study BA History and Journalism at Goldsmiths University in September 2020.

I’m glad that NewVIc appreciates what I’ve done so far not just academically but also for my work in the college community and projects with college partners. My mum is here with me today to celebrate this success, I’m happy that NewVIc is proud of me like my parents, thank you so much for this award.

The majority of the student awards are sponsored by industry and university partners who year on year show their support and commitment to developing young talent at NewVIc, the college is very grateful to all the sponsors, without them it would not be possible to celebrate so many awards since the start of the annual awards evening.

This has been a wonderful evening of celebration and we are very proud of the achievements of our students. 2019 has been our most successful year ever with more students achieving A* -B grades in A Levels and more than 50% of BTEC students achieving Triple Distinction* in Level 3 Extended Diplomas. We are also celebrating success right across our community, with students awarded prizes for their motivation and effort, for the way they have helped, supported, learned from and cared for others and for their contribution to the wider community. A truly inspiring evening!

Sponsor Helen Beech from Clarks Legal LLP said:

It was a pleasure and a privilege to be part of these awards and to present the Law award on behalf of my firm.  It was inspirational to see how hard the students had worked and also some of the hurdles they had overcome to achieve. It is not always easy to get sponsorship and we want to do more for a wonderful college that does so much for the students and community. We will increase our sponsorship so a few more students can be recognized for their achievements.
