Applied Science
LEVEL 3 EXTENDED DIPLOMA
This is a two-year course and equivalent to 3 A Levels.
This programme will suit you if you would like a career in the field of Medicine, but do not have the high grades required to study to be a doctor. It will offer you an alternative route to working in this field. You will explore the practical side of science, with an emphasis on medical application.

A minimum of 5 GCSEs (average score of 4)
These must include:
Maths and English at grade 4
Combined Science at 44
Students currently taking a Level 2 vocational course will need a minimum of a Merit in a related subject.
You will also be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS). It will be administered by the college at the start of the course. The cost is £20 (non-refundable).

On completion of this programme, you will be equipped to enter employment as a Science Technician or for university courses in related subjects. Ideal careers include technical work such as Nursing, Medical Laboratory Analysis, Biomedical Science, Forensic Science, Research and Education.
This course will not however provide you with the qualifications to study Medicine at university.
