INTENSIVE GCSEs (AQA)
This is an intensive one year programme where you will study a range of GCSEs in order to progress to advanced academic study.
If you have not studied GCSEs previously or would like to study a wider range of subjects, this course may be suitable for you if your English and maths level indicates that you can cope with its demands.
You will study
If you have achieved a grade 5 or above in GCSE Maths, choose four subjects from the following list. If you have not achieved a grade 5 or above in GCSE Maths, choose three subjects from the following list.
GCSE History
GCSE Film Studies
GCSE Applied Business Studies
GCSE Citizenship
GCSE Double Science
GCSE Psychology
GCSE Sociology

A minimum of 3 GCSEs
These must include:
English Language at grade 5
Or if you have not previously studied GCSEs and can demonstrate your English and Maths skills can cope with the demand.

You will learn from experts with academic qualifications including Masters degrees in a range of subjects including philosophy, linguistics, media and communications, enabling your lessons to be taught at a high level throughout your studies.
Outside of college, members of the Humanities team also perform as musicians, sportspersons and work as political campaigners. They are interested in a wide range of issues including environmental, sustainability and women's issues

Successful students who pass all of their subjects at grades 9 - 5 (or 9 - 5 for English Language and Mathematics) and have excellent attendance will have the opportunity to progress to an advanced level programme of study. A variety of study options will be open to you, including A level or advanced Level 3 vocational programmes.
