Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports (D* D* D*)

Going to Canterbury Christ Church University to study Physiotherapy

Tell us about yourself?

I achieved a Level 3 qualification in Sports Leadership and Level 1 qualification for Assistance Coach and Athletics with the Sports Acdemy. I also supported disabled people in Sports and gained additional certificates and training for Safeguarding and child protection. All this gave me an extra edge, when I attended my university interview, which is the reason i was successful as it is a very competitive degree to get into.

What do you hope to do next?

I'll be going to Canterbury Christ Church University to study a degree in Physiotherapy. I really enjoyed the topics of physiology, fitness, and anatomy more than others and was encouraged to research careers related to these subjects and this was the definite career I realised I wanted to pursue. I am hoping to study a Master's degree once I complete university, but not yet sure which subject I will do yet.

How will your qualification/course help you in the future?

Doing A Level Biology alongside a full-time BTEC, has taught me life skills like planning and organisation as not everyone completes a combined programme like this. I've learned about hard work ethics and became more determined doing the BTEC. NewVIc gave me a second chance as I came in from another sixth form, in a way it opened my eyes that I need to work harder. My teachers pushed me, told me not to fall behind and my biology teacher was really friendly that I did not feel intimidated by her and could approach her for help anytime.

What will you miss about NewVIc and your college experience in general?

The college is very diverse and a lot of people have a negative view of this. However, this college has receives great results and provides you with more help and opportunities than other colleges through tutorials, support sessions and enrichment programmes. I'll miss my teachers the most, they were so friendly easy to get along with and gave me a better learning experience than my last college.
