The University of Law and Newham Sixth Form College have come together to enable even more students from Newham progress into law. The University of Law is one of the UK's largest law schools who have trained more practising lawyers in the UK than anyone else. They have also been ranked first amongst universities for overall student satisfaction in England in the 2020 National Student Survey.

The five year partnership will provide a £1,000 scholarship to one student each year that progresses to study at the University of Law. Students will get priority access to study sessions with leading university professors, and gain real-life legal experience which will prepare students for a professional career from day one. Students will also be supported with career and Higher Education progression. The new partnership aims to support students with academic potential from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds, by inspiring and engaging them to look at pathways into law where they will be taught real-world skills so students can achieve their ambitions.

Outreach Manager for University of Law, Rik Palmer, said:

“Here at the University of Law we are very excited to partner with Newham Sixth Form College. We are eager to build on the great relationship we already have and are thrilled to welcome more of NewVIc’s students to come and study with us in the future.”

Magdalena Johnson, Vice Principal Student Achievement and Progress added:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for students to explore life at one of the UK’s largest law schools with the new partnership available at NewVIc. Each year many of our students progress onto Higher Education to study law. We are absolutely delighted to be working with the University of Law to help more and more young people to follow their aspirations into law.”
