Four NewVIc T Level students have secured a highly sought after apprenticeship with Lloyds Banking Group apprentice after participating in an exclusive 8-week T Level placement programme.
Whilst in the first year of T Level Management and Administration, six NewVIc students were put forward for an opportunity to work with Lloyds Bank at their headquarters in central London over the summer.
T Levels are two-year, technical study programmes equivalent to three A Levels and uniquely combine classroom study with industry placements. They are a key part of the government’s reforms to revolutionise skills and technical education, generating the skilled workforce that businesses need for the future and giving students the experience they need to progress into employment, further study or an apprenticeship. NewVIc was amongst the first in England to offer the T Level programme when it first piloted.
Lloyds Bank is one of many partners NewVIc is working with to help and support students to succeed and achieve their potential and build their careers.
Their programme was an incredible opportunity for students to understand the range of careers open to them within the industry; from data, audit, customer services, cyber and information communications, finance, risk and technology engineering.
Students Sabiha, Binyaamin, Sabina and Jasdeep have all succeeded in securing an apprenticeship which thousands of young people from around the country apply for but only a select few get through.
Jasdeep, T Level Management and Administration student, said:
"I don’t know what I was expecting on the training programme as I thought I wouldn’t be accepted, but I was pleasantly surprised with how much I learnt and got out of it. My eyes have been opened to lots of areas that I wasn’t too familiar with and I really enjoyed learning about. I am grateful for this opportunity through the NewVIc and Lloyds Bank partnership. I am excited about my future after being accepted as an apprentice.”
Sabina, T Level Management and Administration student, added:
“I was really nervous on the training programme, due to overthinking the whole process. I am glad I took part in this and l learnt so much. I’m keen to learn more as an apprentice. My experience on the training programme has shown me that I can do more than I think I can, I just need to be confident and use the support which Lloyds Bank provided. I believe it’s a very good opportunity for me to get ready for the real world of work. I look forward to what the future holds and the opportunities that will follow.”
Steven Sheard, Curriculum Manager for Business & Tourism, commented:
“'We are very proud of all four of our students who secured a place on the Lloyds Bank apprenticeship scheme. They have all gained vital hands-on experience and an invaluable insight of the world of work, setting them up for success in the next steps of their careers. We look forward to following their progress as they learn and excel through the apprenticeship. I wish them all the best.”
