What made you choose NewVIc?

NewVIc is a 10-minute walk from my house so it was local. I have found the teaching here excellent. You get a lot of support and help from teachers. NewVIc staff supported me and inspired me to achieve my best even when I was struggling with assignments and exams. NewVIc gave me the freedom to enjoy the college atmosphere fully, to join various clubs and societies such as the Student Union, Campaign Champions, and Student Volunteering and more to bring improvements around the college.

How have you found college so far?

Studying at NewVIc has taught me a lot. I have made some forever friends who have always been there for me. The best part about NewVIc is that they have dedicated sports club afternoons where all students can join in, exercise and socialise.

Who is the most inspiring person you have ever met?

My sister inspired me to choose my career in software engineering. I was first impressed when she was doing her university assignment in coding. This inspired me to look into the subject and follow in her steps.

Tell us about THE PROJECTS AND CAMPAIGNS YOU HAVE BEEN a part of?

As a Student Union and Student Council member, I learned a lot of things, such as how to speak in meetings without being nervous and how to maintain leadership qualities.

With the Student Union, I have planned and organised many exciting events such as Fresher’s Fair and Black History Month celebrations. I collaborated with my peers in the Student Union to help create plans for some great events and improve the college environment. I had the opportunity to relay the thoughts and concerns of students with local and national authorities. All of which has been a great learning opportunity and an experience which I take with me for my future.

What is your advice for students considering NewVIc?

Come to NewVIc. You will get amazing support at NewVIc from teaching staff. Many NewVIc staff are alumnus from top universities. Staff are all friendly and ready to support you and motivate you. Come and explore NewVIc at their next Open Day, I am sure you will like it as much as I did.

So what’s next?

With the help of teachers and my hard work I am now going to the University of Westminster to study Software Engineering.
