English for Speakers of Other Languages

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) qualifications support learners whose first language isn’t English, helping them gain the communication skills needed to progress in the workplace, education and beyond. These courses are available from Entry 3 to Level 1.

This course will allow you to improve your speaking, listening, writing and reading skills. You will learn functional English to help with everyday life and progress to further education and employment.

  • There are no qualifications required.

  • You will be continually assessed by your teacher and will take ESOL Skill for Life exams. This qualification is available at five different levels and you will have the opportunity to take the exams three times throughout the year.

  • Foundation Learning is a team made up of specialist teachers with years of experience working with and supporting young adults in education. Our Inclusive Learning team will also support you with your individual learning needs. Classes are small and are supported by specialist learning support practitioners who provide group support in lessons and at break. Where necessary they are also able to take care of any personal needs.

    INTEGRATED AND INCLUDED

    Foundation Learning students are integrated and included within all aspects of college life. We also offer specific clubs and enrichment activities for students with disabilities such as connect club and an ability counts sports programme.

    HIGH EXPECTATIONS

    We challenge students and have high expectations for students who have never had high expectations from others. We also offer in house internships for students in areas such as customer service, sport leadership and gardening.

    We support and nurture the whole person through both tutoring and teaching.
