Students

This course will equip you with a range of programming languages and also develop skills specific to the Software Engineering industries. You will be equipped to adapt to the frequent changes in the world of Computing, as well as the knowledge of Engineering solutions to real world problems. Students with an interest in Software Development and Programming, will enjoy finding solutions to complex problems.

Required qualifications

Four or more GCSEs at A*-C grades, including a grade 6 in Mathematics. Students currently taking an intermediate vocational course will need a full Level 2 Subsidiary Diploma with Merit in a related subject, a grade 6 in Mathematics and one other subject at grade C or above.

Method of assessment

Assessment is through internally assessed assignments. Students will also be enrolled onto Core Mathematics or AS Mathematics, depending on their GCSE Mathematics grade.

What will I be able to progress to?

Most students progress to degree courses in areas such as Games Development, Computer Science, Software Engineering or Computer Programming. The qualification is also excellent preparation for a career in many branches of computing including the multimedia, Software Design, Computing or Computer Games industries.
