Required qualifications

Five or more A*-C grades at  GCSE, including English  Language (grade 9-5).

What will I study?

The AS-level course will focus on:

  • planning and financing a business
  • managing a business
  • strategies for success
  • sales and marketing
  • the business environment and managing change
  • research theme (renewed each year).

On the course you will:

  • research and examine case studies of real businesses
  • enhance your ability to work with numbers
  • develop your communication, analytical and evaluative skills.

Method of assessment

You will be assessed at the end of your second year.

What will I be able to progress to?

This subject will prepare you to study business and related subjects, such as finance, marketing or economics, at university or with a professional body such as ACA, CIMA, CIM or CIPD or you may want to become an entrepreneur and start your own business, using all the skills that you have learnt.

We discourage students from combining business and economics (because of their overlap).
